I was introduced to the concept of networking in 1970 or ’71, while operating Motivators Northwest, a management consulting & sales training company in Vancouver, WA.  Four other business owners and I were studying Napoleon Hill’s classic “Think & Grow Rich” during weekly meetings studying one of his 13 principles each week.  At the end of the 13th week, we wondered what we were going to do next.  We decided to continue meeting.  We formed what we called a “Tips Club”, meeting weekly for breakfast, we had to focus on finding at least one “tip” for one of us each week.

A Realtor friend of mine told me about a new chapter of LeTip that was forming in my area. He asked if I would be interested in checking it out.  I jumped at the chance, and was selected to be the Residential Real Estate agent in the new chapter.  LeTip of Tukwila was chartered in 2002.  As we grew in numbers, we also expanded the geographical area. As a result, we applied to change our name to LeTip of South King County, and the change was approved.

It has been a privilege and honor to serve in various Board positions, many terms as President. We were the Comeback Chapter of the Year as well as Outstanding Business Mixers of the Year for LeTip chapters in the State of Washington.

It is a great feeling to be part of a group where each member is a walking, talking billboard advocate for one another, purposely seeking to find new business referrals.  Referred business is always more fun and generally less competitive. People always prefer to do business with someone who was referred to them.  I frequently share with our chapter frequently that a referral is nothing more than sending someone you care about to someone you trust.  That trust is built best by participation in a local LeTip chapter.
