Established in 1995, LeTip of Toronto East/Markham stands out with a unique mix of experience and camaraderie and the strongest and longest-standing LeTip chapter in Canada. Half of their members have tenures ranging from 5 to 25 years. This past year, their chapter has experienced significant growth, an improved attitude, and an increased level of excitement. With a positive culture and solid board leadership, they’ve built a strong foundation for future success.
To support new members, they’ve developed a “Mentor Program” that provides guidance and ensures a smooth integration into the chapter. Additionally, their “Tip Check” program encourages members to verify and discuss tips received during meetings, fostering transparency and mutual support. For in-person meetings, they add a bit of excitement with a random weekly “Who, What, Why, Where” question posed to keep everyone alert and engaged.
For the 2024/2025 year, their chapter’s goal is to reach a target of 30 members, emphasizing not just quantity but also quality. They aim to ensure that each new member is committed to networking and aligns well with their chapter’s values. Their focus on long-term sustainability is designed to keep members engaged and invested. As LeTip of Toronto East/Markham has grown, so has the enjoyment level within the chapter. Tipping counts have increased, and our newest members, like Evan Chu, have quickly risen to be among the Top Tippers in the chapter.
Their board works cohesively to support the chapter’s success. They encourage members to share suggestions weekly, listen actively, and communicate consistently. With high levels of collaboration, they meet regularly, create member incentives, and provide an engaging meeting environment. Recently, they revamped our meeting format to include three speakers and three Showboaters each week, allowing for a dynamic rotation and enhancing member commitment.
Power Partnerships are an integral part of their chapter. Every member is seen as a Power Partner in one way or another, and they continually strive to bring out the best in each other.
Outside of weekly meetings, they host a variety of chapter events, both virtually and in person. They organize socials, support a local food bank every six weeks, and encourage member-to-member visits to strengthen bonds and promote business support. Members are also encouraged to attend other networking events, such as Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade gatherings. Since their founding in 1995, they’ve created countless cherished memories, from socials at theater events, karaoke, and bowling to, more recently, a summer social hosted at a member’s home.
LeTip of Toronto East/Markham chapter’s success is built on strong leadership, a dedicated membership, a balanced mix of professional backgrounds, and invaluable support from LeTip International. With a commitment to evolve and adapt, they are focused on continued growth and shared success.
