Growing up as a trained dancer in Tap, Jazz and Ballet and being a Sacramento native it was clear I needed to bring my passion for dance to the big stage or should I say..the NBA court? I danced at nearly 260 games over six seasons with the Sacramento Kings Dance Team. During my time with the organization, I had the opportunity to travel to China, the Philippines and even performed for the troops on a Goodwill tour in Iraq. After hanging up my dancing shoes in 2012, I found another passion to ignite my burning desire to add creative touches to homes. I founded Backwood Design in 2013, and I quickly became Sacramento's Lifestyle expert, gracing the screen on the morning local news. Although I was fulfilling my passion for design, I was missing the freedom in movement that dance offered. On a quest for something expressive, I stumbled into my first Yoga class in 2010 and quickly fell in love. The flow like movements almost dance like, allowed me the freedom and space to discover what I was missing. Oprah always says "Never stop investing in yourself". I knew I needed to learn more about the practice, and how it translated onto my mat. In 2015 I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and today and you can regularly find me at one of Sacramentos staple studio's, Zuda Yoga. After a few books and hours of Netflix documentaries, I committed to abandon animal protein from my diet. People always say "So how do you get your protein?" (insert eye roll here). One word. Arbonne. I found Arbonne (or should I say Arbonne found me) after nearly 6 years of trying to manage plant based protein on my own. So what is Arbonne? In High School I built a radio receiver that used only the power picked up in the air to run. Hearing it work got me intensely interested in electronics. I pursued electrical engineering in college. However, working in electronics had more appeal to me than studying it. I dropped out and became an electronic technician. Then came an economic slow-down in my industry which put a stop to that career. For two years I tried to get a job in electronics, but to no avail. That is where fate brought me to where I am today. My father offered to partner with me. My job was to repair and remodel and he would buy the properties for me to work on. I was quite successful. I accumulated over $1,000,000 in ten years. Then a recession hit. The phone stop ringing, real estate wasn't selling, but the bills kept coming. I ended up declaring bankruptcy.
