Hi, I grew up in Asia and Europe and graduated high school in Lakenheath, England. My dad was a pilot in the USAF. I moved to America to attend the University of Missouri. After two of those Missouri winters, I was done and drove to California to meet my biological dad. I decided to stay in San Diego and at 21 built a window cleaning company to support me getting back to college. I sold it and was offered a sales management job at a new cell phone brand entering the American Market, Audiovox. After becoming the top-selling sales manager in San Diego (9 locations) I broke off and sold cell phones and had a Mobil crew for the installs. It was a fun business. Two of my better cell phone customers were lawyers. I had an opportunity to open a court reporting firm and my first customers where the two law firms that I had sold cell phones earlier. My court reporting firm hit one million in sales in my second year of business. After 19 years I saw changes occurring and I sold to one of the companies that were making the changes. I opened a language translation business and after getting it to a million in sales I gave it to my ex-wife. I had fun coaching for business but also missed having a conventional business with staff, so I restarted a window cleaning service. There is something about window cleaning that makes me happy. From a young age, Mike had a keen interest in the built environment and how things are constructed. After graduating from Washington State University and a six-month tour in Afghanistan with the US Air Force, Mike worked as a carpenter apprentice to gain hands-on experience to go with his formal education. Michel Malécot is the Chef, Owner, Founder, and President of The French Gourmet, Inc. When I was a boy one of my favorite things to do was look through the stuff Dad had found, and re-purposed it. I am sure it was tedious or even frustrating for him, but for me, it was a treat to see what neat things he had brought home. ​ One of my favorite things that my father brought home was “The Tub.” It was not really a tub, but rather a 2 person row boat. Together we patched it up with fiberglass and resin. We painted it baby blue. He found an outboard electric motor, hooked it up to an old car battery and voila we had “The Tub.” We set our boat on the dock of Palo Verde Lake in Alpine, CA. It was in this boat that I took my wife, Chantelle on one of our first dates. I was amazed as we set out on the still blue lake that someone’s junk could be such a blessing to me. As I looked at my future wife across that cute little tub, I knew I wanted to provide my family such blessings someday. In late 2013, turns in the economy left me without a job. I had just returned to school, and I knew training for a new position would be hard. After 2 months of applying, interviewing, and getting turned down, I knew I needed to do something more. Turning to my roots of property clean up, and trash outs, I started Steven’s Hauling – San Diego Trash & Junk Removal ​. My wife and children have supported me through this, and are an active part of this company. Each of my jobs and clients is unique.
