I’ve managed retail stores in the Seattle metro area for spas, fireplaces, patio furniture, barbecues, and casual living. What I bring to my clients is a wealth of knowledge and experience along with a passion for serving my client and getting things right the first time. I usually take about an hour or two sizing up the home, understanding the mechanics and offering smart solutions for the smart home owner. Before starting Washington RetroFoam, I worked as a product manager in technology for a couple of decades primarily in telematics, mobile computing, and wireless communications. I spent a year in India setting up an Internet-of-things practice for a major Indian corporation. My education includes a B.S. in electrical engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago. When not working, I enjoy open water swimming, cycling and flying (as a private pilot).

Prior to working on websites, I graduated from UW with a double major in Mathematics and Philosophy when I was 19. I worked in IT and AV for a couple of years and then started Mendatech. We started off working on computers, but quickly transitioned to supporting businesses with their websites and online presence. I've been building websites for over a decade and love it. I have been happily married for over a decade and have two kids in elementary school. My wife has taught in elementary school for 10 years and helps keep me from being glued to the computer all day. I enjoy hiking, playing games with friends, and learning/discussing new ideas. ///// More tedious details about me are below ///// I meet up with a friend group most weeks to play Dominion (a board game). It has a great balance of luck and skill along with excellent replayability. While I also enjoy playing chess and other strategy games, I also enjoy speed games as well. If you have 5 minutes to spare and want to learn an easy new game, feel free to challenge me to a game of California Speed (card game). I also love finding creative fun games to play with my kiddos. Their education and growth is one of my top priorities. I believe it is important to put God first, but am the first to admit, that I haven't been to church in years. I enjoy hiking. It is hard to find the time to get out to nature. I was raised to be frugal by necessity. I enjoy learning and building new things, but I am finally starting to embrace the value of hiring others to fix things around the house instead of doing it myself. I enjoy brainstorming, discussing new ideas, and talking politics when it results in positive action. I do not enjoy complaining about political problems. I avoid politically divisive topics - I will smile and nod in a business setting to not make waves, but it doesn't always mean that I agree.

Shortly after learning to drive in high school, alongside my friends we started tinkering on our cars. Fast forward 22 years later, it is my full time profession. I attended the Honda PACT program at Shoreline CC graduating in 2008 and completed my Honda master technician certification in 2011. I have worked with Honda from 2005 through 2023 continuing to learn and advance, completing as much training as I can to stay at the top of the field. While there I placed 3rd in Honda’s 2023 Top Skills Competition for the local region. Most recently I have struck out on my own to open my own shop.
