Member Spotlight: Andrew Becker

With tax season upon us, we want to encourage our LeTip members to support your local LeTip CPA’s. From one of our longest tenure C.P.A’s:

I have been a lifelong resident of Suffolk County on Long Island. I attended Long Island University C.W. Post graduating in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. I worked for local and regional firms until I obtained my CPA license. I have always enjoyed working with businesses in the local community.

In January of 1989, I started my own CPA firm aptly named “Andrew Becker CPA PC”. This is my 30th year in my own practice, and I am celebrating my 24th year as a LeTip member.

I had always been a proponent of supporting local businesses, and as such, I have concentrated my practice on serving the needs of those businesses. In order to continue to do that I looked for networking groups in my local area. After trying a couple of groups, in March of 1995, I received an invitation to a new networking group forming in my area called LeTip. I went to the first meeting with approximately 40 other business people. Directly after that meeting, I invited the LeTip representative to my office where I completed the application, gave him my membership fee, and as they say “the rest is history”. There were a handful of early members, a few of which still remain. Throughout the years our chapter has grown to about 45 members.

I have held every board position from President to Membership and also chaired many committees over the years, sometimes serving more than once. LeTip is a business networking group that “Puts Dollars in Your Pocket”. Since we are accountable to the group and each other it fosters a professional approach to networking. Having been a member since 1995 (24 years), I would not continue to go to breakfast meetings if it did not produce results in the form of increased revenue. I would estimate that fully 1/3 of my annual revenue is from LeTip referrals past and present.

Additionally, throughout the year’s many friendships have developed. I explain to other members, we may not do business together, but use me as a resource, just as I may use them as a resource. We have shared many joyous and some not so joyous events in our chapter. The caring that is shown between the members is an added benefit.
