Attitude & Gratitude

Sep 16, 2019 | Articles, Kim Marie's Blog

What type of attitude does a LeTip member have when we see them tremendously successful? What does success mean to anyone in LeTip? Is it the number of tips passed, the number received or the dollar amount that member is putting in their pocket every week?

I believe the attitude of a successful member starts with “what can I help you with today?” They are cheerful and happy to be around others. They think about giving instead of receiving and the receiving seems to come naturally all by itself. We know this is not the case, the receiving end of it comes to those who work hard, help others and then are grateful for everything they have.

Over a lifetime with LeTip, some of our longest standing members can attest that being an involved member will help lead to an attitude that breeds success not only in their own businesses, but within the chapter and thereby within everyone’s business. Engaging your chapter on a committee, in a board position and during every week’s meeting is paramount to success. Learning from fellow members across the country during an NTS training class or during a Board of Directors class, reading about the success of members and chapters in the bi-monthly Communicare newsletter, engaging in a chapter Board meeting or in any of the many places that LeTip brings members from around the country together to share ideas and best practices leads to improved awareness and an attitude that can create wondrous success for all of our members.

In our fast paced world, many of us go around with a grouchy resting face or a dour expression. Does that mean we aren’t really paying attention or do we become unapproachable? I personally have a grouchy resting face especially when I am concentrating. It does not mean I am not interested or bored or mad, it means I am concentrating but I have learned to change my face into one of animation to show I am listening intently and want to be involved. Your attitude must declare you are open and ready to accept whatever is coming your way. Smile, it doesn’t hurt your face!

This past summer I was a guest at Brian Buffini’s Summit. I learned that every morning he wakes up with a loud “Hello!” His attitude from the first minute he wakes is what sets his day. How do you wake up? If you need coffee before you are awake, you probably do not have the right attitude for success. Be cheerful, if it kills you. Meditate briefly or for as long as you want and always remember to add gratitude to your thought process. Gratitude changes the universe into a place that is ready to give back.

When was the last time you thanked your board members for their selfless service? When was the last time you thanked a member who gave you an outstanding tip? When was the last time you told a customer how much they mean to you? We are busy, we take it for granted. Our attitude and gratitude needs to kick in to create the harmony and balance of a well oiled machine.

Give, Get, Grow… Repeat TM
